─── ╭✿ ;; ”Stop gawking and let me out!” Anna was grateful her fellow partner had been near by when she was placed into custody. Even more grateful that iron clamps weren’t around his wrists as well.
Out of everything Anna’s done in her six years out in the world, never once had she been arrested. It was always something she sweet talked her way out of. Tears helped, especially in the beginning when she was frightened about being sent home. Being in jail meant being in a place that could have a sketch of her or someone with knowledge.
That’s the last thing she wanted, was to be noticed. Thank the gods Flynn arrived before such a thing could happen. Anna pulled at the gates, groaning loudly.
“C’mon, I don’t like it in here.”
She really didn’t. The cell was too small and it smelled worse than some of the places she’s slept in and the longer she stared at the large iron bars, the more it felt like they were beginning to close in on her.
“Oh, please tell me you have the key. You have it, right?” Anna was getting impatient, the whine beginning to creep up in her voice. She finally stopped fidgeting and sighed deeply, placing her forehead against the bars.
“You don’t have it, do you?”
“I’ve gotta’ say.. the whole bad girl, behind bars look you’ve got going for yourself.. it’s pretty attractive.” And cue the charming smile ; he moved his hand up to reveal a self-made lockpick. “Don’t worry, I don’t need the key. Remind me to get you one of these. But maybe I shouldn’t– then you wouldn’t need me for anything anymore.”
When he heard the click that indicated the door was unlocked, he pulled the entrance open and then stepped inside, hand reaching out for her wrist. “And now to get these bad boys off. They’re a bit trickier when you’re trying to do it yourself, but..” Another click. “Alright, now we’ve gotta’ get out of here before the guards show up for their roundabouts. I think we’ve stayed here long past our welcome.”
─── ╭✿ ;; Was that really how she was suppose to act? Like she was better than him? Anna rubbed the back of her head, unsure because to her that didn’t make sense. They were people, the only thing that separated them was their lifestyles.
It seemed silly to the sheltered girl to treat someone differently just because she was a Princess. How could she ever hope to make friends with someone if she acted as if she were better than them?
“…You’re new to Arendelle, aren’t you?”
He had to be, otherwise he’d know, Anna assumed.
“The gates here are closed… nobody in or out and that’s including princesses. And for your information they aren’t my people— they’re my father’s.”
“New, old– what’s that matter?” But it was only seconds later that she’d explained to him. His curiosity had been cured, but it was replaced with uncertainty of how he felt about what she had said. The gates were closed, and she seemingly didn’t have much interest in ruling the kingdom. It was odd to him, because if he were in her position.. there would be so much that he’d be able to do. Right?
He wasn’t sure what to say because he wasn’t expecting such an announcement from her to him. But if it was trust, and she hadn’t really had much chance to talk to anyone else, then he shouldn’t be surprised that she was announcing it to a stranger. “–I see. Look, I didn’t mean to get you upset or anything– well, I don’t know what I was aiming for. Just not this.” Time to change the subject. “So you’ve never been outside the castle walls? Never sneaked out?”
Put “Hate me, Love me, Miss me.” In my askbox and my muse will tell you something about you they hate, something they love, and something they would miss if you left.
“–I hate the way you don’t understand me sometimes.
I love how lively you are.
I’ll miss how your mere presence lights up my darkest days.”
Anna nervously wiggled her toes, rubbing them against the soles. She always seemed to do that, say something that made people upset. She fought against the muscles that wanted to frown as she walked towards him, peering around her shoulder.
“Y’know, this place has gotten really crazy since you’ve been around. It’s been a lotta fun. Definitely been different. but it’s a good different. ”
More lip chewing.
"So, want some double chocolate chip cookies?”
”–I have that effect on people. Particularly girls.“
He smiled slightly at that. ”–alright, you’ve got me interested now. Where are these cookies at?“
She bit at her lip, thinking over the question. There’s no way she can relate, all she can do is try to mentally place herself in that sort of situation. How would she feel not knowing her mother?
“Um… you can appreciate the life she gave you. You might not know her but she’s still the reason you— uh, her child is still here.”
“–and what happens if you don’t wanna’ be– .. ahhhh, just.. nevermind.”
He shrugged his shoulders at the conversation and turned himself away from her, a frown present.
─── ╭✿ ;; “Okay… well, mother’s day is a day where you show your mom how much you love her. It’s something… we should do without needing a day for it but… I guess people just kinda forget… or you lose mothers so… today’s a day to appreciate them, where ever they are and thank them for everything they’ve done for us.”
Blink. blink, blink.
Okaaaaaaay, he’d go along with what she was saying, even if he just wanted to walk away.
“And if you never knew them? Just– speaking hypothetically. How can you appreciate what you’ve never had?”
─── ╭✿ ;; She finally turned around, leaning against the window with a sullen look. “Do you have… any siblings?” Anna finally spoke up, breaking the heavy silence in the room. The longer he stayed there, the more she found she wanted to talk about it.
“–nope.” It was a long thought out question, one that was quietly answered. Those at the orphanage were like his brothers and sisters, but they weren’t blood. There was a difference to him. “None related to me– but that’s all in the past. Why?”
─── ╭✿ ;; Anna stared out the window, just taking in the scenery before her. Shoulders stiffened, she sighed.
“I.. guess you can stay. If you want.”
She could see his reflection behind her and couldn’t help but smile. He looked a bit uneasy yet despite that, stayed put instead of removing himself from the tense situation.
He wasn’t going to leave unless she honestly didn’t want him there – he wasn’t one to stick around when he wasn’t wanted.
Hearing that she didn’t mind, he took it upon himself to find a seat on the nearby couch, simply just listening to the rain pattering on the window.
Flynn wasn’t sure what was going on, but he wasn’t going to disrupt her thinking time with pointless questions. Sometimes a little peace and quiet was all someone needed.
