The Princess nodded against his shoulder and pressed her face into it gently, letting out a long exhale. God, he was - great. He was perfect for her. She needed someone like him, and she was so happy that it had come to pass that they should meet at all. But now things were so…complicated. She wanted to make it easier for them both, but there was just no way.
She appreciated the way he swayed her back and forth, it was relaxing, sweet. A little smile blossomed onto her face at the idea of running off with him again, doing what she had wanted- settling down somewhere far, far away, where nobody knew them. She was mentally planning it all out in her head already. She could take some rather pricey items, her better dresses, access some of the royal wealth- take it with them, out on a ship, and use all of it to buy the means with which to live.
“Well. Regardless, if you’re going to leave now- and I’ll see you later- we should figure out a place to meet, that won’t get you caught.” She did not pull away from him. Any moment she could be close was a moment she wanted more of.
At her silence, a smile formed on his own lips – he had to wonder what was going on in that head of hers. “Already planning our wedding?” It was asked as a joke, but even if she actually was, he wouldn’t complain. She seemed too good to be true, but she was very much real and here with him as proved by the feel of her body and the warmth that developed between them.
He didn’t want to go. But he knew that staying would cause complications. Especially since he’d escaped from the dungeons just last night. It wasn’t safe for him to be here. Oh, but even with this knowledge, why did it feel safe with her in his arms?
“A place to meet.. how about just outside of Arendelle? I’ll meet you on the road and then we can go for a walk to get away from the Kingdom for a while. And then I can show you that thing when it gets dark.”
Anna’s body seemed to deflate. Her shoulders sagged and her eyes were cast down, her energy sapped. He was right, and she knew it. She had a way of getting too caught up in her fairytale dreams, of being able to have everything she wanted with no unfortunate consequences. It was a tough choice to make, but in her mind, there were only two options. She smiled half-heartedly at his compliment, not wholly believing it, but catering to it anyway.
“You’re sweet to say that, thank you. It’s just…what else is there to do?” she asked quietly, keeping her gaze down. “I run away with you again, and everyone knows, because you’re gone and I’m gone shortly after- or you stay, and I have to try to convince everyone that you’re not a menace, and that this time I’m not making a mistake.” Having a ‘secret relationship’ was not an option for her. The infrequency, the random comings and goings, that’s what Kristoff had done. It just wasn’t enough for her. Too much could go wrong.
There was a pain and a sadness and a longing in her eyes as she finally looked back up at him. “You’re right, I would hate it if something bad happened to Elsa, or Arendelle. But … I want to be happy, too. With you.”
“Hey..” The word was mumbled as he noticed the drastic change in her body posture. Eugene wrapped both arms around her and pulled her in for a tight hug, not showing any signs of letting her go until she was okay.
"We’re going to figure this out. If we can’t stay here, then we’ll go somewhere else. I’m not leaving you again, you already know that. Trust me.. I wish the backfire wasn’t there and I wish you could tell her about me.. about us.. but I don’t think right now is the time. Maybe we just need to wait a while. Go off the radar.“
His body swayed along with hers, just for something to do and it was used as a relaxation method to reassure her of his words. "You know, I was pretty good when you were with me. I hardly got into trouble. And when I did– well, it wasn’t anything as serious as stealing a crown from inside a castle. We can go somewhere far away and forget about everything for a while.. just like you wanted.”
Anna was having kind of a hard time keeping her focus on what was being said now. She was awake fully, and boy, was she ever aware of how attractive Eugene was. He had strong arms and a broad chest, and though she was a little bit shy by it, seeing as he was covered in the reminders that she’d really been into it the night before- it was nice to see him marked up as her’s.
“I’ve done a lot of things in the way of hobbies. Reading the same books over and over is exhausting. I’m no good at drawing. Trust me, it’s been like this for a long time. …Once the sun sets? Oh, alright."
She was going to be quite antsy in that time. She loved surprises, but the wait killed her. “Caaaaan I get a hint? As to what it is?”
”Noooooooo, but what you can do is help me sneak out of the castle without getting caught.“ He gave her a smirk, pressed a small kiss to her lips and then rolled out of bed, hand reaching for his trousers on the floor. "You know, maybe if the guards knew of our relationship, they’d leave me alone.”
Within a few minutes, he was dressed and his hands were working on doing up the buttons on his shirt. He walked over to the window and peered out, feeling a bit weird to be on the inside looking out. It was unusual – he was an orphan, didn’t have a home and he was one that spent most of his life looking up at a castle similar to this one. All he ever wanted was to be inside one (without being chased) and now that he was here, he didn’t know what to think.
Anna was first aware that there was something awfully heavy weighing her down. Sure that it was just the covers, she reached to try to pull them off blindly, only to be met with a very warm arm around her waist. That certainly woke her. She blinked a few times, looked down at it- and suddenly became very aware of her body. She was bare beneath the sheets that only came up to her stomach, and around her middle was Flynn’s arm.
The rush of memory that hit her was like a freight train. She exhaled softly in awe as she stared at the wall she was facing, unable to believe that it had actually happened last night. She did her best to move slowly, turning around in his arms to look at his face, and once she managed it, she saw that there were a concerning number of bruises all over his neck, his shoulders- it took her a second to realize they were not from a fight.
She became quite flustered after that, and pressed her face into his chest, trying to sort of curl up and hide. She didn’t regret it- not one bit- but she was certainly a little shy about how enthusiastic she had become.
That was probably the best sleep he’s gotten in his entire life. A warm bed to sleep in, his arms around the girl of his dreams– he couldn’t ask for more. And he didn’t need more than that to be more than satisfied. At her movements, his eyes slowly opened and he found the ginger haired girl buried into his chest. With an amused smirk, he gave her body a small squeeze.
“Sleeeeeeeep. Skip the princess duties for today and stay in bed with me.” The words were mumbled, just loud enough for her to hear. He reached with his free hand and pulled the covers all the way up so they were both covered, and then his arm returned to being wrapped around her. He was sure she was embarrassed with all that happened last night, but it wasn’t anything he wanted her to be shy about. Not with him. “–Anna, you’re beautiful. And I love you.”
Anna found herself laughing into his kiss, when he didn’t let her answer in good time about lying. She ran her hands up and over his shoulders, down to his chest- she could probably just lay like that forever. She certainly wanted a bit more out of this, but she’d have been content just beneath him, too- kissing the whole evening away, getting to feel him again, be close to him again.
Her heart began to beat a bit faster when his hands moved down to grip at her skirts. There were a few, and it would be an ordeal to remove all of her clothes, but the fact that he was considering it- the fact that he wanted her, too- made her overjoyed regardless. Suddenly, she was turned over entirely, sitting atop him, and she was a little startled by the new change- but she liked it.
He pulled her back down for a kiss, and oh, it was unmistakably hungry, just like hers. She was almost a little cross when he broke off to speak, but when she realized what he was asking about, her ears tipped red and she shook her head. “No, it’s- what I want. I said I wanted you. I meant allof you.”
And there was a chance that his own face turned slightly red at that comment. Sure, he wasn’t bad with the ladies, but.. it’d never gone this far before. He wouldn’t let it. He wasn’t ready for it– but now.. now, he was. It wasn’t just a physical fling ; there were real emotions attached to it. And it was this sort of feeling.. this kind of attachment that he had waited for. She would be the one he was going to share such an intimate moment with and there would be no regrets.
She was pulled closer to him, hands found a natural placement on her waist, just slightly above her butt. They lingered there for a moment before crawling slowly up her back, all the while his lips were busy with hers. This was going to be special, for the both of them and he wanted this night to be remembered.
With only a small pause- much more believable that she was asleep and having trouble rousing enough to answer- she turned her head away from the man and looked up at him as she gave a loud yawn. “Mnhhhwhoossit?”
“Your Highness, a prisoner has escaped from the dungeons. Are you alright?”
“….Huh? Oh.” Anna’s eyes never left Flynn’s, and she really tried so very hard not to grin. “‘M fine, ‘m fine,“ another yawn.
"Very well, my lady. Please remain in your room for the duration of the evening, then, just to be safe.”
“Mmkayyy…”
She waited a few seconds, listening to the guard’s footsteps fade away. She couldn’t hear them anymore, and turned her head back fully to face Eugene. Yeah, he still looked stunning. Her fingers played with the edges of his hair near his neck, and she didn’t say anything. She didn’t know what to say, really- she didn’t want to voice her thoughts, she was a bit embarrassed about where they were headed.
“Do you do that often? Lie about wanted criminals hiding in your bedroom, I mean. Or am I just special?” The question was asked, but he didn’t give her enough time to answer as his lips collided with hers once more. He was right where he belonged; with her. Wherever that took him, he didn’t care. A castle or an inn, anywhere was fine with her.
Hands slid down her frame, and then he gently gripped the skirt of her dress as he deepened the kiss. Then, he laid down on the bed beside her, hand holding onto her wrist as he pulled her on top of him, more than ecstatic to be with her. Arms snaked around her waist once more and their lips met again to cure the hunger that he had built up for her over their time away from each other.
When he needed a breath of air, he pulled apart from her, eyes staying trained on hers. He was searching her for some kind of answer to a question that he wasn’t sure how to ask. He wouldn’t step over any kind of boundary ; there was respect for her, as a person, and as a woman– his woman. And that trust they had for one another wouldn’t be broken. He’d make sure of it. “–are you okay with this? We don’t have to, you know. I just–.. I want you to be okay and happy.”
It was extremely hard not to be charmed by him. It always had been. He was just good with her. And the gravity of their placement was starting to creep into her head. She’d brought him into her bedroom at an ungodly hour with only the light of the moon- big and bright as always- to guide them. And now she was laying in bed and he was over her, wow, could his face find another pretty angle?
“Do you?” She asked, finally getting her bearings and reaching up to run her fingers through his hair, slowly. “Well. The twigs I can’t do much about, it’s not as if we have plants…” She looked away for a long second, then back up to him, and raised a brow.
Saying nothing of her dress.
From an outsider’s point of view, the scene laid out in front could be considered improper, especially because of both their statuses, but honestly, he couldn’t care less. Usually, he’d never even think about someone of royalty wanting to be in such a position with someone like him, but she was different. A good different in all the right ways. And maybe he needed someone like her.
Looking down at her face and into those loving eyes, it was then that he vowed to never again leave her alone. Even if it meant waiting until the sun went down and sneaking into the castle unnoticed. He’d do it for her.
A knock on the door came just as his lips connected with hers and he gave it a moment before pulling away, the guard on the opposite side calling in to ask if the princess was okay. A smile on his lips, though he dared not say anything whilst the company in the hall waited for an answer.
Anna kept her eyes shut for a little longer, relishing in the moment despite hearing footsteps that would break it. Oh, she didn’t want to let him go- he’d run away and she didn’t know how he’d get back, or how she’d escape— and then an idea hit her like a freight train.
“Eugene-” she whispered, getting to her feet and pulling him with her. “You’re not going anywhere, I’m not letting you run off again. Come here. We’re going to hide you until I can find a way to leave with you.” And she wasn’t going to take no for an answer.
She pulled him through the halls as fast and as quietly as she could, tugging him into her bedroom- despite how absolutely improper that was, in royal sentiment- and locking the door. Nobody was going to enter, especially if she gave her sleepiest affirmative that she was safe and sound.
When they’d entered the sleeping quarters of the princess, he gave her a widening grin– he definitely had a influence on her over the course of knowing one another. And hey, he wasn’t complaining. Arms wrapped around her from behind and then she was scooped up into his arms and carried over to the bed. She was laid down on it and then he leaned over top of her, one hand placed beside her head for support as he gazed down at her with an affectionate stare.
"I think you got even prettier over this last month, but.. I kind of prefer you with twigs in your hair and dress completely disarrayed.“
